so im pretty sure my brake light switch is busted, b/c a couple weeks the lights have been staying on, but when i manually press the switch they would shut off, now when i push the switch they still stay on, so im gonna swap a new one in, how do you get the switch out, i dont wanna break it off the donor vehicle, as its my sisters and she will be driving it again in a couple months, so is there any screws or is it just snapped onto that piece of metal its mounted too.

For the brake light problem... You may have a short somewhere. could be the brake light switch but not certain. Unplug the switch and see if they stay on. If they do, the switch is not the problem. You'll have to keep unplugging connectors that are between the brake light switch and the brake lights themselves to find where the short is.

I would second the OP. Almost exact same issue was present on my M42 car when I bought it. New switch cured the problem. If memory serves, it snaps into the metal hole with clips on at least two sides of the switch. I think I used a flathead screwdriver to persuade the switch to let go, but I didn't care about preserving the switch, since I had bought a new one. It's cheap. You should just buy a new one.The current fleet:
