Hood latch help

the e30 I picked up had a busted hood latch. I got a new one but I'm not sure how it goes. I also replaced the cable with a new one from bavauto.

having never seen one connected, I don't know how it's suppsed to go. anyone have a pic?

it doesnt describe it in the bentley.

also, how do i get the cable in the latch?

Pull your grille, both center and drivers side.

2 10mm bolts hold in the hood latch.

Pull it out and I bet you figure it out from there.

i did that. but what I'm saying is with a broken cable and a broken latch before, I didnt see how they attach.

I think the 90 degree bend on the cable goes into the bottom of the spring, but I can't get the damn thing to hold while I try to get the other piece in the little slot or whatever.

so I don't know if there's a position of the latch (cause you know how it rotates and hits that piece that locks it) so I dont know how to put it to get it on there

don't worry about the bend, just did this on Tuesday and after opening it and looking inside the bend did not attach to anything IIRC

all right I see what you mean, and I feel stupid now. I guess I just thought that little bend attached to the spring, as when I took the cable out of the parts car that little bend was on the spring.

got the cable on the latch, but I can't get the damn thing to work.

i tried putting it up as high as i could, and adjusting it in tiny increments on the way down, and couldn't get it to go
