    Speed sensor code...

I checked codes on my 85 w/89 M20B25 tonight and discovered that it has a speed sensor code, 29 or something like that. Anybody ever encountered this before? I don't know what it is. I cleared it so we'll see if it comes back.

speed sensor is usually a wheel sensor used as part of the abs. If it throws a code it can mean anything from a constant out of sync reading (ie it compares it to the other wheels and it reads constantly higher) or it could be a faulty sensor.

Ive seen them throw random codes when the trigger wheel gets coated in grease and dust, sensor wont read properly.

Well my 85 does not have ABS but my 89 that the motor came from does, could that be the issue?

I wouldn't think this would be tied in to the engine info.

If using the same ecu, it would probably have provisions to read the sensor output from the wheels (it would have to in some way, even for diagnostic), so that could be it.

The only other place they use speed sensors is front crank trigger, and i guess, in our case, the diff sensor.

I dont have a bentley for the e30's, wonder if they have trouble codes and meanings in it somewhere?
