    Hypothetical Inspection Question

Is it possible to temporarily dissable the check engine light and anti-lock brake light without damaging it for further use? A imaginary car needs to pass but would still like to retain these two systems for the future.

      switch what?

I have heard of the ABS relay being removed (does this turn out the light?) but do not know exactly where it is located (somewhere under the dash on the driver side).

As for the check engine light, what should I do?

-I don't know how it is in Texas, but in NC the CEL bulb must work to pass inspection. Called a Key ON, Engine OFF Bulb Test. And does your ABS have to work too? Not in NC.

-Not questioning you or anything, I'm just curious about it.

I can't imagine the inspection techs requiring those lights to be off and not checking to see if they come on for the bulb test and go off once the engine has started. To get around that (hypothetically) you'd need to simulate the bulb test.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
