Fuel tank draining

The fuel tank in my project is about 3/4 full. The full is at least 6 months old. I really want to drain it. Do you think it would do any harm if I ran some heavy gauge wires from a battery directly to tank pump? I was going to run a hose from the pump outlet to a Jerry can. I'm a little worried about the amperage though, electricity continues to cause me considerable mental anguish;).

If you have a Bentley, there are directions for jumping the fuel pump relay which will run both fuel pumps. I think this would be better than trying to jump your pump directly from the battery.

yeah take out the fuel pump relay and jump it. When you do that take off the return hose and put a hose off that into a catch can. Its too easy...

well idk about your cars...but my 86 eta has a nifty little drain on the passenger side, and you can see it from on your knee's. and it was from factory that way

for reference...that is the front right corner on the passengers side, takes like a medium sized torx...someone had stripped mine, so vice-grips were needed

I'll climb under and look for a drain. The problem really is that my engine and all associated wiring is not in the car.

A drain would be nice though.

on all of the resto's we have done on old trucks and whatnot we always just drilled a hole, and when done put a sheetmetal screw in it with a convex metal washer with a rubber back, and smear some good quality silicone on it, and we never had a problem with it...just an idea, hope yours has the drain...mine is a 86 eta

Doesn't take a torx, it takes a 5mm Allen wrench- same size as the brake rotor set screw.

well mine was sooo stripped out, i had no clue..so i just went for the vice grips
