The SMT-6 etc... still use the base tune from the stock ECU and vary up-down from that, which is also more of a hinderance in FI applications where you really need to start from scratch with a standalone ECU to get the best results.

As with all car mods, it is about the level of compromise you are happy with!!!
Like I already said in another thread the SMT can mod the ignition
you can even run standalone ignition with it,,

But how would I physically connect the MAP sensor to the engine?

Hvae to re-wire nad make a new connector, is not so hard, I did it in teh past to test it.

Have any step by step info or where I can find it?

it needs a power, ground, and has a signal wire running out of it that you connect to the SMT-6. then there is a vacuum nipple on the MAP sensor unit that you connect to the intake manifold of the car

Thank you very much for the info. What about the AFM, just ditch it after I hook up the MAP?

After you succesfully can drive and run your engine then you should simply dump it yes

the 2 bar map sensor runs from 2.5v-5v on a linear line from 0-14.5 PSI....someone can correct me if im wrong, but the AFM voltage runs from 0-5V and is NOT linear... at idle, the signal (on my car) sits around .9 volts and at full throttle it steadily increases with RPM as more and more air is passing through it.

                    godz yes thats true.

Anyway out of all the E30 engines i recon the one to get max performace gains from this is the M42 as you can change the Fuel and ignition mappings.

Whats the wire from the smt6 that goes connected to the map sensor...i might try this tommorow since i dont have anything else to do.

                      *edit*

I also came accross this FAQ, i was wondering if anyone here with a smt6 knows how to correct the Check Engine.

CAN I INSTALL A TURBO ON MY N/A CAR AND TUNE IT?
Yes, the SMT6 can provide the additional fuel, and where applicable, retard timing for boosted engines.

MY N/A CAR WILL THROW A "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT UNDER BOOST, WHY?
Some N/A cars ECUs turn on the "Check" light when they detect boost and go into "safe mode". The SMT6 has a built in feature to correct this.

E30´s don´t detect boost to begin with
but it´s the voltage that leaves the SMT into the ecu that goes above 4.9v I think it was and if the ecu detects more voltage then 5v then it will call the AFM failed and trow a check engine light, you can change the max output voltage in the global settings to
