    Heater no longer works, 1, 2, 3, 4 dead.

Used to work on 4 only... now blower motor won't turn on at all... Before I go and hunt down the problem by taking the entire dash apart to find out what it is, perhaps someone has a simple fix? Common problem?

The non-operation, when it would happen before, would coincide with a rainy or cold day, now this weekend it stopped altogether. Ideas?

resistor and/or blower motor. I would start with the resistor, though ideally both should be replaced.

From you description, I definitely would look at the blower resistor. I's a pretty simple fix to replace it. It's located behind the panel at the center of the firewall (above and behind the intake manifold). It's a little block that has a couple different windings of coiled wiring on it. That resistor controls the voltace going to the blower at diferent fan speed switch settings by changing the resistance in the circuit and commonly go bad. Replace that sucker and you should be good. If for some reason it still doesn't work, i'd test for voltage at the blower motor connector. If there's voltage at the blower motor connector when the blower is supposed to be on then it's the blower motor itself. Anyway, hope this helps...

Blow the carbon dust off the blower motor. take 30 minutes to do that.. cheap insurance.. that motor pulls close to 30A on highest setting and that can melt the fuse box... the carbon causes additional current draw.

I assume you used it on 4 for some time now, so, check the fuse box. mine melted away.

Thanks! Fuses are all new, no damage there, but that was a good thing to note for other users that will be searching through this site when this common problem happens.

I just replaced the resistor and all is well now. :)

it's under the blower motor. you have to have the cover off the blower and it's right there. can't miss it.

just a side note if your blower stops working or works on setting four only......DON'T REMOVE THE DASH!!! It's completely unecassary....the blower and resistor are in a plastic casing behind the firewall UNDER THE HOOD right in the middle under the windshield. just get a screwdriver and unscrew the screws to the firewall...15-20m job

*Same thing to access the windshield wiper motor

No. You can access the resistor w/o removing the motor.

I have new resistors for sale if you need one.

My fan seems weak? Maybe it's just, but it seemed better before. A fuse blew and I replaced that now it works, but just doesn't seem right.

Also at level 4 the brake pedal seems to vibrate a bit.

Everything still works... just doesn't seem right. Is this a sign for something going out?

I've replaced the fuse, the relay, and the resistor pack. I can spin the fan freely by hand - no binding, but still zilch response from the fan control knob. Starting to piss me off. I guess the fan control switch @ the dash is next - how hard is that?

Are you 4srs? Put it on speed 4, use a test light to see if it has voltage at the fan terminals. Have a buddy turn it from 4-off slowly and watch the light dim. Then remove fan, and apply 12v. Then replace the fan.

Do your power windows work? If not, check the connections on the starter. Windows and fan motor are on a circuit that connects at the starter. If you have to pull the fan switch, there are several threads describing procedure. It's not hard, just a bit tedious. Good luck. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...r+controlsink:
