    My cabrio leak leaks... help

So i sat down today in my drivers seat only to find the left bottem of my seat was soaked. But i searched and searched and I cannot find the source of the leak. Is there any easy way to find the source of the leak?
It must of been a new leak because its been through quite a few rain storms int eh past month and never leaked until today.

also, do you think if i got the Ragg Topp protectant for the top, would that solve my problem?

    thanks.

it could be leaking through the stiching if its a really old top. is it just on the seat or is it on the door panel too?

i don't recall the door panel being damp.
yeah its hte original top so its 16 years old. if it is from the stitching would raggtopp protectant solve that? or should i use duct tape from inside?

if the raggtop stuff is what i think it is i dont think it will solve your problem. its a water repellent for the canvas so it wont fill up holes. you could probably get that repaird but it might cost as much as a new top. my dad has that same problem and he was quoted at around 400 to fix all the stiching. duct tape might be a worthwhile temporary fix

Look at the top of your door. Right at the peak of the molding that holds the little vert specific corner window. Mine leaks in the exact same spot, there is a very small gap there, only way to stop it is get brand new gaskets/top molding. Look into that corner and just push very softly up against the top and you should see it.

I was told that you will never get our cars completely sealed unless you go with a hardtop. Just another good thing to be a vert owner haha.

Thats good. You are probably one of the few lucky ones or your hardtop need some new things. Do you have new seals on your soft top?

both the soft top and the hardtop are in new condition. but my windows are adjusted for the soft top so when the hard top is on the windows go up too far and leave a gap

so how would i go about testing the top to see where the leak is?

any other way than pouring water over the top?

well you could either wait for another storm and sit in the car while it rains and look for leaks or have a friend on a ladder spray it from atop with a hose. thats pretty much all i can think of. plan for a new top in the summer if its in that bad of shape

you can buy one for about 500 shipped on ebay. its most likely coming in from where the window seals to the top though. maby post a picture of where the window seals to the top to see if anyone notices any obvious spots

Mine leaks at the top corner where the triangle window meets the soft top on the roof line. I tried some clear silicone sealant, but it only worked for about a month. I bought a hardtop from a guy on dtmpower.net and I have not had any leaks yet. I have also not taken the hardtop off since i bought it a yr ago.

I have a new top and my car still leaks there on both sides after the top get saturated enough in a rain storm (rare here) but it happens. Mine leaks just above the intersection of the power window and the fixed triangle vent window at the roof. Drips while driving on my left thigh, a passenger would get it on the right thigh.

Let me know if you come up with a way of adjusting / fixing the problem.
