    Flex disc replacement

    Hey,

I was at my job today and I had my new tie rod and Flex Disc in so I go for it. I change the Tie rod out without having much problems at all.

Next, I get to the flex disc, well even though I work on BMW and Benz I have never worked on an E30, except for mine. I started to take it out like most other ones...wrong. After reading a lot, im aware now I have to drop the exhaust and driveshaft. yay. But I noticed that my DS has something different then most that I see, Instead of all six of the bolts being six bolts and nuts, its three bolts and nuts and it seems as if the DS has three threaded studs that the nuts go on....great...what the hell is this? And do I just press them out and replace than with normal bolts ( what size? )?

they are probably all 6 bolts. hopefully.

but yes, you have to remove the exhaust and heatshields, a trick i learned while watching a shop do mine was to undo the hangers and let the whole fucking exhaust back to the catback hang from the fucking headers.

    point.. do your work yourself.

thats a good idea....Imma try that when I attack this job again.
but nope, it isnt all six nuts and bolts, only three are like that , then its like three threaded bolts athat re directly connected to the DS...its weird.

Probably not a good idea....all that weight on the header/exhaust manifold.... imho.

You can hang them down so long as you support the weight on a screw jack or something like that. Letting it just hang though..:tsk:
