    Roll Cages: 6pt Bolt-ons. Autopower/Kirk?

    Hey guys,

I've been doing my homework and I'm about to order my cage. I was going to go with Kirk based on their experience with e30s, but speaking to Mark over the phone, he mentioned that he only has cages for the 2 doors, and I was concerned that the fitting might change in the 4 doors, especially towards the back of the car.

Does anyone have experience with cages on 4 door e30s? Alex?

Any other companies I might look at?

    Thanks,
    Erick

The body is all the same .
I don't see it being a problem with mounting it .

    *although I don't have any firsthand 4-door experience .

Yeah... I don't want to have one freight shipped to FL to find out that for whatever reason there is a difference.

They only problem you may run into is getting the main hoop into the cabin. The points where they mount are all the exact same. (autopower)

With four doors I'd have more trouble getting the hoop in than a two door? That seems unlikely??

You have to take into account the height of the bar from top to bottom, and that is taller than the door jam, so you have to tilt it. It was last summer on mine, but the way i had to put mine in, would have been tougher on a 4-door. There are other ways to get them in tho.

Yes, but it's like moving a couch through a door I'd assume.... I can rotate it from the outside to inside the cabin. :)

right, but once you have one side of the main hoop in, getting the other vertical part in is more challenging. It might be easier with the rear door open, but i dont think so.

The main hoop will be about even with the middle of the rear door, I would guess. That's not really an issue. And you'll run into the same issue with any bolt in cage or bar in a 4-door.

Bolt in cages are lame BTW. Bolt in a bar until you need a REAL cage.

I dont want to buy a REAL cage for a car that can be totalled at any event. :p I'd like to salvage as much as I can in the case the chassis really does take a crap on me.
