    heat is long time comming

    hey fellas
i'm new t this site and am sure glad you're here. i've come from mye28.com cuz i own one but i got and e30 last spring for reeeeeel cheap and it runs great but for a few problems. one that really concerns now is the heat. it takes a greater part of my commute before it feel comfortably toasty in the cabin. i drice about 7 miles to get t work in stop and go traffic so 'd think that after 15 minutes it's be nice inside especially since i let the car warm up b4 driving. is there a heater valve, where is it and do you think it's stuck half open? or a better question is what could b the problem?
    thanks

A common cause of that is the inlet and outlet pipes at the firewall have been switched around by a careless mechanic.

Also... does the temperature gauge reach the middle after 5mins or so of driving? If not the thermostat might be stuck open partially.

i'm leaning toward your second point. i recall having similar symptoms with another car that had no thermostat in it. i'll replace it and see how it goes. thank you for your input.

Wouldn't a low temp T-stat cause it to warm slower as well? Either way if it's being replaced, get the 80 deg. C.
