    s52 swap quesetions,

Ok guys i am debating the idea for buying an s52 being sold localy. I just need some questions answered to see if i can afford it.

    First-
If I went with MegaSquert for engine management would I still have to convert to OBD1?

Second- Once you pay for the engine, what is an estiment of the parts cost needed to install the engine?

Thrid- Is it hard to install and M20 into A 320? Thinking of throwing my stroked motor out of the blue into the red.

    Thanks
    and fast answers are best

I think the M20 swap into the E21 chassis would be more than you want to undertake. Besides, you could sell the stroker and fund a portion of the s52 swap into the E30.

Look into the history of the 320is/6 that has a 6 cyl M20 I think. Very rare and VERY hard to aquire parts for.

Sorry I cant be of more help.

The 320is had an s14 engine I beleive. What would make an m20 swap into an e21 so difficult?

you are thinking of the E30 variant of the 320is.
He is talking about the e21 variant shown in his sig pic.

Oops sorry, I didn't know that e21 used the "is" model designation.

A buddy of mine just installed a M20B25 with E21 323i manifold and running gear into his E21,

Alot of E21´s had M20 , around here most did,
            320´s 323´s and then the lame ass 315, 316, 318 wich where M10´s

Just need the E21 6cyl motor holders,

Well I better answer the questions then :)

If you use Megaquirt as engine management you will not have any vanos at all,
and no you would not need to change to OBD I standard

Installation cost is totally dependent on who installs and how much they charge, if you do it yourself, look at $1500-2000 as a minimum,

No isn´t your 320 a M20, at least that is what they where over here, anyway no they are not hard at all, just need E21 M20 motor mounts, E30 trans. not required unless you want to run the motronic or you have a ´88- motor your M20 exhaust should fit also,

Im looking and not finding. what parts do i need to convert an S52 to OBD1. no where am i seeing the listed parts. The only thing i know is that the E34 oilpan is needed, and the manifold is needed to change. do i need to use an S50 intake manifold? what other parts are needed to get this beast OBD1?
