My e34 runs fine then dies out

My e34 runs fine for a couple minutes, then starts running like shit and won't move. Thought it may be a clogged cat so I pulled the exhaust off, it's running open header right now. Put a scanner on it; no problems, even though once it starts running like shit it throws a cel. It said it's getting 1.12v at the o2 sensor, but the o2 sensor isn't on there.

I just dont understand because it runs perfect for the first few minutes. good steady idle, etc. I don't understand what it could be? As soon as it starts warming up it dies out. When I put the scanner on it when it started running like shit after I started it and ran it for a couple minutes it was at 54 degrees celsius (~129F)

any ideas? coolant temp sensor? sending unit?

Ive heard of fuel pump problems in E34s before. Maybe some debris is floating around and gets sucks into the filter? When your car dies/is off it falls back off until it runs for a bit more the next time you start it.

    Fuel pressure gauge FTW!

    Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

I think its gotta be something temp related, I mean the thing always runs fine for the same amount of time until it starts warming up

If you have access to an ocilloscope, you can probe the crank sensor and see its waveform with the engine running. A lot of times, when the car runs fine when cold, but then will die once warmed up, it will be the crank sensor. Usually after it dies, youll have to wait a while to start it again (10 min or so). Coolant temp sensor should be obvious if you have a scanner though.

it doesnt seem like anything temperature related.

yeah for me it runs fine for like 3-4 minutes, then dies out and throws a cel. but when I put a scanner on it i cant find the problem. the car will start up like 5 minutes later, but quickly die out again
