    Rpms wont go over 2200!!!

I drove to the mall tonight in my 87 325e and everything was fine. afterword when i was leaving the mall my car wouldent go over 2200 rpms and if i pushed the gas in more than halfway the car would bog out and slow down , the rpms would drop intil i let off the gas to about halfway. i have to shift through the gears at 1500 and i cant go faster than 50mph (even going down hill) . Help Please!

Could be any of a number of things, but a problem with the AFM or fuel system seem likely.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I think its the fuel pump. if i push the clutch in and keep it at redline it will start dropping rpms and eventually stall out. Anybody know what a fuelpump runs for these days?

Through BMW... Too much. They were quoting me around $350. Everyone else is around $250. Post a WTB, I am sure you will get a few guys willing to sell you one - for a lot less.

However, just make sure it is your pump. Has it been making a lot of noise lately?

Before you decide to drop some change, utilize the guys on the forum to help you isolate your problem. It sucks to spend big bucks when in the end you didn't have to.

Before dropping a wad on a new fuel pump (I would not buy a used one), and if you have access to another known working AFM I would swap that out to see if that fixes your problem first. I had a friend several years ago that had the same problem on his e30 and a simple swap with a known working AFM fixed it !!

Would this fuel pump be the in tank pump or the external pump?
