    Intake manifold

Are the studs, that sit the throttle body, attached to the manifold or can they be taken off? Friend and I were replacing a lot of things around the area and he broke a stud off :( Nothing is sticking off. I went to the BMW dealership (which they call me mr. trouble by now) and you can order the studs individually so hopefully they can. Thank you for the feedback.

So the stud broke off flush with the manifold? If so, you are going to have to drill a hole in the center of it and use an easy-out to get it out. If that doesn't work, you'll have to drill it completely out and put in a thread insert.

Taking a better look, with the throttle off there is a little sticking out. Can it be done then with vice/wrench?

If you can get it on, use a small punch and try to tap it around.
I think your going to have to go the easy out way though for that stud.

Yes, I would try vice grips first.

A big problem with easy-outs is they have a tendency to brake off in the bolt. And, since they are hardened steel, you pretty much can't drill them out and are therefore, SOL.

Just to update, there was just enough to of it left to use a vice. My idle seems to be stable now and everything is working okay. I will probably try to check for torn hoses or leaks anyways though.

So thanks guys. The BMW dealership in San Luis Obispo was telling me i need to get a new intake manifold

                  They want your money:hitler:

I was taking the exhaust manifold off an old car and i stripped a bolt, and broke the nut off. I asked them and they said it would need to be machined or a new head bought. I just used a bolt splitter and made a groove big enough to get a grip with the Vicegrips.

That would of been a pain! I don't think these people wanted my money (of course they wouldn't mind) more than none of them, including a couple of the technicians, know a m20 engine anymore.

I know, you go down to the dealer and say e30 thirty and it seems like sometimes they have to get a reference from a picture out of a book.
