    m30 AFM questions

alright i dont have one yet but i am seriously considering it

i have heard that just the afm will cause you to run lean. is it recommended that yo put in 19# injectors as well? or is more needed?

also i might be getting a jc chip will the above work well with it or should i just forget it?

    thanks

You should put larger injectors in..I suggest you get your hands on some used e36 m3 injectors...19lb injectors are good but ive heard from Ben at Apex that e36 m3 injectors ran the best on his e30. You stock injectors will make it run just a bit lean..Dont run a JC chip. For the price you can run the jc chip new, you can get the SMT-6 piggy back engine management system, get that instead of the chip...The chip wont really do all that much with the m30 afm and injectors because its not tuned for it, you need a fuel management system or SMT-6

I'd like to know where you can get a smt-6 for $250. And aabout the chip not tuned for the afm or injectors, that doesn't matter because the motronic ecu will adapt. The tuned chips are "mostly" a scheme to make more money companies.

The SMT6 was on a group buy rate of $290 shipped to your door, but it passed a month ago. I almost got it too.

But it might be hard to advance the timing as well as JC did.

19# are nice. They smoothed out my engine, and gave better throttle response, but maybe that is just because they were clean versus my old clicking stock ones.

I'm about to swap electronics on my M30 AFM, and see what gains I get. Dyno session Saturday, so hopefully I can get shit done by then.

My point being is that you need some fuel management system to get some good results. Yeah, and there is a group buy right now for SMT-6, and is well worth more than a chip. for 40 bucks more its worth alot.. Not only that but if you plan on doing an M50 swap you can still use the SMT-6, and thus not having to buy another chip.

The SMT-6 is an easy system to tune with, as you're modifying the signals the car is already recieving by "+1" or "-1"... if an adjustment doesn't work, just zero it out and you're back to stock.
