    diff covers

    are they all the same, i got a 4,10 lsd and was wondering if the cover from a regular non lsd diff will fit it..this is what happened to mine

      From what I understand, it should change easily. On my 325e I changed the diff cover from a non-LSD to an M cover like the one you had without issue.

      There are, of course, differences between diff covers between different body styles (E36 vs. E30) of BMWs though. :)

        I dont see why you could not change the non lsd cover with a slip diff. Not 100% though


        What the hell happened to your finned diff cover ? Thats not to reassuring for me since I have one on my car.

          Maybe it got dropped on it's side while in storage.

            it got dropped or something when my friend was taking it off a junk car or something, i dont care i got both of them for free so im not complaining..=)

                  E30 M3 / E30 325is / E34 525iT / E34 535i

                        haha sorry, i didnt feel like getting shoes on, i was running around my garage and there is metal shavings everywhere. that shit sucks when it gets in your foot, i would weld it back but i dont have the other pieces..

                          M coupe diff covers fit too. It's a nice upgrade.

                              I've seen that happen on the car before.

                              On my brother's last e30, the bolts holding the driverside halfshaft to the diff output flange loosened up and eventually fell out. The axle ended up whipping around under the car and smacked the diff mounting ear and broke it off exactly like it is in the picture above. Then one of the bolts sticking out of the axle ended up snagging the e-brake cable which locked up that back wheel.
                              All that happened going about 40-50mph.
