I picked up a like new trunk lock on ebay for $5 last week but it didn't come with a key.. wasn't really worried about it at the time since my current lock looks broke ass ( looks like someone tried to open it with vice grips ) So what I was wondering is if I can get a new key made via the serial number on the lock itself or if a locksmith would be able to make me a key.. any suggestions?

If that works, I'm going and getting the serial number off the back of some E30's trunk lock whose stereo equipment I like.

I know that you can get a kit to re-key the door locks, but don't know about the trunk lock.
Check w/ your local dealer. That's the only way I think you'd be able to do it.
check www.bmwe30.net in the articles section and they have a write up on how to do the door locks.
