odometer isnt working

the odometer on my 91 318 hasnt worked since i got it, what could this be because of?

also when i do a real hard or jerky turn the car will make this squeking thunking noise for a while and i think it might be the guibo? it only does it when the car is rolling and the engine doenst have to be on

Considering I own two e30's with broken odometers and have almost a dozen instrument clusters all with broken odometers I would call this a normal problem. I don't know if its the material of the odometer gears or the grease they use on them but basically over time they turn to jello and break. If you need anymore info on this I suggest you use the button to find what your looking for.
As for the other problem I have no idea whats going on :)
