    engine question

    intro:
    http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=100853:

i finally finished putting the interior together and i installed my new US ellipsoids. the following has been covered many many times, but i would appreciate it if someone would help me personally. this is everything i want to do, but im easily persuaded by people with experience.

the first thing i want to do engine wise is a cone air filter w/ heatshield, custom 2.5" catback w/ high flow cat, markd chip.

where can i get a heat shield? do i need to make it or does someone make one?
if i do the catback/highflow cat, is it worth replacing the headers as well? would a good magnaflow muffler sound deep/loud?
what is the performance difference between 14lb injectors and 19lb? also difference in gas octane level? dont want to lose gas mileage.

so ill start with there for now, feel free to email me, ill be sure to update. thanks

most poeple will tell you that stock airbox is best fit for e30's, so dont worry about a cone filter, it will just make your car sound wierd. ebay headers are cheap and nice, sometimes they crack but its whatever, your probably safe. magnaflow mufflers sound good IMO. not sure about the difference between injector sizes, i know you have to do mustang 5.0 (19lb) injectors and an m30 MAF. if you get the markd sylva chip, i think he offers both 91 and 93 octane chips, i strongly recommend dealing with markd....hope to enjoy your e30, super clean.

I got a Lucas heat shield on mine. I bought it on here, but i'm sure that they still sell it. As for headers, some people say they are a waste. But others don't. So here's my experiance with them, i got a set of long tube headers on each car i own. Even my Corvair has a set. I got a set of IE LT headers on my eta. They been on there over a year now. They have discolored some and i had a problem with the #5 tube lineing up with the studs in the head. I did not feel any lose of low end torq. And the car runs better going down the road. And the car had a stock "i" exhaust on it before.
