dropped something in my defrost vents, need to get it out

Well, I'm a fucking moron and stuck a cigarette that had gotten wet onto my defrost vents to dry out. Only in an e30 they are just holes, theres no vent grill like on some other cars. So the cigarette dropped right down, and I can't see it with a flashlight or a feel it with my fingers. Where would it have fallen to, and how would I go about taking it apart to get to it? As it stands I don't want to drive with the heat on, and thats not something I'd like to live with for the winter. Any advice is appreciated.

Do you smoke in your car?
If so don't worry about it. It wont ignite or anything It'll probably just stink for a while.

If you don't smoke in your car and don't want your car to stink like cigarettes then i have no idea. Maybe get one of those flexible spring loaded grabber things and fish around for a while.

No, I don't like my cars stinking like cigarettes. I was trying to fish it out with some gum and a pen, but I was worried about losing the gum and then having 2 things stuck down there.

Short of removing your entire dashboard you're pretty much screwed.

There are some connections under the dash you might be able to get loose.

Well, I may have to do just that when I go to run my wires for my stereo, so I guess I'll just hold of until then.

i sat two quarters on top of the dash over the guages for the parking meter before i got out of the car once... i somehow bumped them and they slid right in before i could stop them.
Guess when i go to sell my car, it will be $xx,xxx.50 :D

                  haha, best tool ever.

Turn your vents off and use a vacuum, or stab it with a metal wire.

buy a vent out of a parts car - hook the end of the vent up to a shop vac. Put some adhesive foam rubber around the end of the vent and mash it against the one in your dash. Turn the defrost on high and turn the shop vac on.
