Pop the hood on an e36 without acess to interior?

Friend of mine's e36 was totalled and I need to get under his hood to get his HFM for my e34. car was hit around a/b pillar area, cant open either door, pillars are pushed like 1.5' from where they should be.

can't get in there to get the cable, is there any other way to pop the hood? like e30's have that baller way you can trip the latch from the front

It can be done, but its a serious pain.

You will have to remove the kidney grills, tear out the plastic air guide around them, and smash out the plastic boxes around the latches.. and manually release them.

What Jordan said would be the only way I believe. I pieced together an entire locking mechanism not to long ago starting from scratch. Grr.
