    instrument cluster lights

    Before anything, I've searched the forums ;)

    Currently my instrument cluster won't light up on the E30 I just bought. All of the warning lights work, as well as the indicators, and high beam. It's just the amber lights.

    I've already removed the unit, replaced the bulbs, and checked the board for any cracks.

    I have noticed that the headlight knob cluster lighting dimmer feels funny. When I twist the knob it feels very light...well much lighter than my cab. With the dimmer knob can you actually cut the cluster lights off? If so I'm wondering if the knob is just broken in that "off" position.

    Any comments are appreciated :)

      you probably have a blown rheostat(the headlight switch/the twisting part that dims the interior lights). Happened to me recently when I put some HVAC switches in the wrong sockets. It's cheap and easy to replace. you might want to check fuses first though. Let me know how it goes.

          To continue this thread a bit, could the headlight switch be the same culprit in the issue I have? Only one half of my amber cluster lights come on (on the left), and that's after I whack the dashboard over the cluster. The right side doesn't come on at all.

              Ahhhhhhhh....i had no idea you guys had stuff like this so I ordered it late last night from Pelican......geeeez.

              Can you check the availability of some H&R Race springs? I'd rather get these through KO.
