I don't know what is up. I constantly have to tighten my alternator belt every couple of days otherwise I get a horrid screeching noise until about 25mph. And my belt only lasts me about a week or so. I can freely spin my waterpump pulley and my alternator pulley. What is wrong?

the teeth might be worn out on the mounting bracket. Try tightening the pivot bolts next time you adjust the alternator.

You probably have bad alternator bushings, I have had the same problem on a couple alternators, the whole thing bends in, and won't keep tension.
My fix was new lower bushings, and I bought some larger washers that pretty much cover the whole bushing and rest on the housing, this way it won't allow any flex. Worked great for me, I can tighten the belt and the alternator doesnt wiggle all over the damn place anymore.
Forget about that stupid tooth and wheel thing, just grap the alternator with one hand, pull back hard, and tighten one of the nuts. This way you'll get the most tension.

last time I replaced my alternator, I turned the bolt the wrong direction. A new alternator tensioning bracket and bolt is about $11 total from the dealer. I had the same embarrassing situation.WTB m50 or s50 swap parts, PM me
I call her Jenny, pics coming soon.

My alternator belt is giving me problems. I think the bracket is bad, it can wobble real easily. My friend sayed when I hit the gas somewhat it pivots. I'm going to have this check out along w/ my timing belt tm, wouldnt want to ruin either with my new chip ;)Jordan, when he has nothing bad to say, he says nothing at all. Cuz he's way better than us, right?
