IIRC, jw_325ic had an mtech1 wheel from his e30 that he put on his gf's e28. So probably a direct swap.

good luck getting it off. I'm not sure how to get it off when locked. Do you know how to?

I put a e30 wheel in my dads 86 e28. But he had a parts car that came with it and it was a 85 e28. The 85 had course splines, where his 86 had fine. So you may want to check that out.
