I've got a 87 325is which recently started to loose charge and be unable to start after sitting for a day or so. I just charged the battery and reinstalled it and my car started right away. Something wierd is going on though. The service inspection lights stay on even after the car is off and the key is removed  What is going on?
What's going on with my car's electrical system?

Murphy's Law sucks! I'm thinking I'm fine and that I'll wait a few days and work on it later this week....NOT! My wife hits something in her Audi (lowered so I guess it's my fault somehow) and the oil pan won't be in for two days. My NEW truck pops a lower radiator hose...DAMN! No dealer in a 20 mile radius has one....I suck.
Who's grave did I pee on?Comment

check all the small bulbs (check engine, oil light etc.) when you turn the key to the "on" position (without turning on the car) make sure those bulbs are not burned out
on my old eta I had the same problem... and that was the cause... one measely little bulbComment

O.K., some of you have lost me. My S.I. lights stay on...all the time. Key in, key out...the lights stay on. I'm going to check the alternator output tomorrow, but I don't see how that drains the battery overnight. I put a test light between the negative terminal of the battery and the negative lead and it burns bright! I know something is on, it's just a matter of finding out what it is.
Wish me luck and throw out any suggestions you have.
Thanks in advance.Comment
