    resurfacing a flywheel

    was thinking about my flywheel and it got my curious instead of going to a shop just get my flywheel resurface is it possible i can do it my self using 400 grits sand paper?

          theres no way you could make a nice uniform even surface by hand. its just not possible.

              you can, how ever "break up" the glaze on a lightly glazed flywheel with a 90deg grinder and a scotchbrite pad. maybe that is what he is thinking of.

              if your flywheel is groved or damaged to where it needs machine work to repair the surface, it needs to be done by a machine shop

                I resurfaced a flywheel myself. Stuck it on a tire machine so I could rotate it at a constant rate and took a grinder to it. Held the grinder at constant speed, and it came out fine.

                It's only temporary. When I put my dogleg tranny in I'm tossing in one of those frisbee JB flywheels.
