    NEED HELP BY MORNING!

Thanks in advance for any help :)

I drive a 91 318is (m42). Last night it started "misfiring" and studdered like crazy under a load. My first thought was plug wires, so i went to advance for replacments but was turned off by the nearly $300 pricetag. I bought some other universals and used my ends to make "new" wires. The problem still exists. I am supposed to leave for the beach in the morning and am apprehensive about leaving for a trip with this problem. Any ideas?? i'll be watching the board for any suggestions...

    i've checked the following:

    new plugs
    "new" wires
    vacuume lines

    please help!

give us symptoms, not a possible diagnosis ;)

What makes you think it's a misfire?

sounds similar to my problem.....ignition wires very rarely go bad.....try your coolant temperature sensor, and your TopDeadCentre and RPM sensors. they send bad signals to the ecu and it tends to run rich...check if your spark plugs are covered in fuel. good luck...its a really shit problem to have!

I had the EXACT problem. The only thing is I payed $250 to get a diagnose to get the problem right. What type of spark plugs do you use? If you are using platinum that is why. For some odd reason the Bosch platinum plugs don't like M42's. Go to the parts store and buy yourself some regular plugs.

Changing plugs fixed my 3/4 or more throttle and engine under load hesitations and missfires. See if that helps.
