    car is super loud

well i recently did my head gasket and then had my car taken to the shop to tune it up...its running great minus the fact that it sounds like a muscle car. its loud as fuck. I just want to verify with you guys that its probably just the header bolts? We tightened them as tight as we could get it, but this son of a bitch is overbearing. Anything else you can think of that would make it this loud when changing the head gasket.

also i have a high pitched whistling coming from my car, no idea where from....its not all the time. any ideas about this.

btw: i am running back to the shop tomorrow to make them look at this whistling i am going to try to tighten the headers bolts a bit more tomorrow.

Try PMing or IMing Jordan. He had a whistling sound coming from his car when he was first getting it running.

yea, could be the tensionior for the timing belt. Also, which exhaust manifold gaskets did you get? I got the cheapy individual ones and i think 4 out of 6 of them blew holes and were all leaking causing my car to sound horrible. I put the older one piece (with heatshield) back on with a little bit of black exhaust sealant. Worked great.

edit: just read your other post. Catco convertors are usualy the best bang for the buck. I have one on my jeep/ two on our truck, and i put one on my old fiero before it sold it. Might be tough to find a dual in dual out, and you dont want to use a single in/out.. Maybe they do make them. Last time my dad got them for his truck they were $69.00 if im correct. they flow/clean up to 400hp, and will still keep it within sound limits.

exhaust problem is solved but what about this god damn whistling, its super annoying, and i can' tell where its coming from. you think its the timing belt tensioner, because if it is, thats a royal bitch to get to.

Check for vacuume leaks by spraying some carb cleaner on gaskets around the intake manifold. My guess is that it is either from the TB or the spot on the other side of the intake manifold.

What was the problem with the exhaust? The Gaskets?

Whistling sound should be the alternator belt, which could be out of alignment. That's my case, however I can't take the belt off right now....

                  vacuum leak-intake manifold-problem solved-most annoying sound ever-end of story

if you didn't see my other thread, my cat is more blown out than a cheap whore. Bascially the seam just split down the whole side and its gaping wide open.
