People have driven my car before and mentioned that my gas pedal seems hard to press. I always kind of thought that my self, but I'm so used to my car I forget till i drive someone elses. Not too long ago i degreased my enging and pressure washed it, and my pedal felt eaiser to move after that. Eventually it returned to the way it always is. Should I think of changing my throttle cable or something? Has any one else experienced this?

Yes, a new throttle cable often fixes this. -
That or buy a cable lube tool, it's a little metal clamp with a rubber insert that allows you to force lube in there via the little plastic spray tubes. Cost me like $10 at a bike shop, works like a charm every time.

KY works even better ;). Your cable may be starting to fray though... keep a spare one in the car just in case it decides to snap on you. Ask me how I know -.-;
Besides that, lube your throttle mechanism as well as the hinges that the pedal pivots on inside the cabin.

For one, most r3vers are cheap, and want to use what they have until it breaks.
Secondly, he doesn't even know if the cable is faulty, he's just going by "feel." Even after I put a new cable in my other car, it was still harder to press down than newer cars. Why replace parts that are fine?
I said to keep a spare for insurance... not bad advice IMO.
"Expensive" is relative, and not everyone can afford to replace parts they think are bad. If you can swing it, go ahead.

What about the cable itself makes the pedal easier to push?
I thought that the stiffness is controlled by the spring in the accelerator pedal and/or the throttle body springRecent Rebranding!!

Friction! As designed the cable is supposed to ride in a nice nylon tube surrounded by coiled metal reinforcement, surrounded my an outer sheathing for protection. Throw in a few hundred thousand miles of wear, and that inner part is worn through and the cable is riding on the metal reinforcement. Not bad in itself, many HVAC cables are like this, but throw the elements into the mix and the constant wear.... That cables not gonna want to budge after a bit.-Dave

Currently replacing cable. Old one out, nylon was worn through nicely by the way, and the new one half in. Its connected up on the pedal mechanism, but trying to hook it up on the throttle body mechanism. Question, tips welcome area, is the rubber grommet that fits through the hole, how the hell do I get it through. I know I am supposed force it through, but it just wont go. No amount of pressure can get it through, not even greased up. Should I just drill the hole bigger on the bracket?Comment

dont drill anything! just put some armour all on, bite down and give it hell, c'mon were gonna get through this! seriously though it might be harder if youre doing it in the cold.sigpicComment
