Is the blower, heat, a/c stuff interchangable?

I pulled and junked all of that out of my car a long time ago, now I am thinking about basically putting the blower , heat, a/c back in. I know it's not going to be cheap but I want it all to work like new so most likely will buying some of components new (a/c)....

What I want to know for sure is if the blower/heat box itself is different between the various models / years on e30s ? (example. 318i vs 325. or 84 vs 88 etc). I know there are different types of blower fans, heater cores etc.. But are the a/c components also different ? is the wiring different ?

Plus my rear defroster is also not working because of it ... ugh.

Just looked at realoem.com and there are different part numbers but I don't know what the differences are :(

Does anybody have access to dealer software that let's you know what the revisions were and what works were etc ?

    Heater,a/c box, heater controls
    A/C parts

    would be much appreciated!

Some e30s had metal heater core inlet/outlet ends, while others had plastic. Depending on what you have, you will need to larger or smaller blower motor for one. Also, If you got blower resistors, the ones with round ends are for plastic inlet, while the spade connectors are for aluminum outlets.
