    hi gruppe
since i bought the car - 87 is, everytime i start the car the OBC defaults to the temp setting and shows - 22 degrees.

i believe this is because the connection to your outside air temp sensor (in the driver's brake duct) isn't solid. check the connection/wires and see if that fixes it. mine does the same thing.

Plug your temp sensor back in then. If it reads -22 its not hooked up, or there is a bad connection. you'll probably go looking for it and it wont even be there or the connection has been severed. Not sure where they are on the older e30s. I know on the es/is spoilers they are in the little hole on the driver's side, and the newer e30s they are in the brake duct on the drivers side.

can be one of the 2 wires is grounded.
remove sensor and tested with an ohm meter, touch tip and then a cold surface, readings should go uo as well as down.

              check blue and brown wire.

22 usually means disconected sensor or bad unit, high temp ? i don't know.

OBC's are retarded and for the most part, useless. I hope the car I get has a deluxe OBC, I could use the $50-90 the kit goes for on ebay for more mods.

                - Clock? I wear a watch, and the time is on most CD players.

                - Temperature? That's what bank signs are for, and they are usually more accurate.

                - Trip counter? Pointless.

                - Miles remaining on fuel? I never let my car get much below a quarter tank, and I calculate my own gas/distance ratios before I go on any long trips.

im not sure where the sensor is on other cars but if it is exposed like on the '87is and '86 es in the front airdam then the sensor takes quite a beating from sand and rocks at the such...

my temp started reading -230 degrees one day so i checked out the sensor and it looked like it had been sandblasted... i replaced it and its been fine ever since...
