recently when i get in to my car it idles up and down not hard just slightly i was thinking it was the vacumm lines but im not real knoledged about bmws yet so if yall have any suggestions just reply thanks.
An intake leak usually results in a rough idle, but a sticking ICV results in an unstable idle. On a car of this age the odds are that both problems are present.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

i just changed my icv, tried cleaning it, still same result. so i just changed it, it was about $250 for parts. now it works like new
Just for further reference, the unit could be had alot cheaper used or you can even try autozone or some other similair auto store. I think autozone had a new one for $125 or something. Still, you could just get a circuit tester and check a used one.
First check well for air intake leaks. when unmetered air gets in there it causes all kinds of hell. turn your switch on but don't crank. get out and open the hood and if the ICV hums and vibrates, it's probably OK.
I vote check your TPS. it sits there under the throttle body and gets all kind of oil and crap inside it. I took mine apart, sprayed some carb cleaner in it, got all that crap out of it and put it back together and adjusted it properly. Works great. If you haven't already, get the Bentley. It covers all facets of idle control and where/ how to go about diagnosing the exact problem so you don't take the "shotgun" approach and spend more money than you had to.
I'd rather have Sarah Palin 1 hearbeat away from the Presidency than Nancy Pelosi 2 heartbeats away.
