    should i buy it?

    so i found this e30.

havent really looked at it besides the outside (the seller is out of state as of now)

this is also the first e30 that i have looked at.

what do you guys think? too much rust?

    here is the description
Over the years the engine has had a basic rebuild (water pump, belts, tstat etc.) 240k on the chassis and about 120k on most of the engine. dual straight piped w/extra gasket for slight leak, very nice strut tower bar and intake. This thing hauls and drives nice. Power steering lines need to be hooked up and I am in the process of bleeding the clutch (tricky on e30s) newer clutch, new master and slave cyl too. This car has a limited slip differential along with an extra one that i will include. It has a few little things like a little rust on one quarter panel, glove box doesnt close, and no radio. and the rear window is shattered, but still in place.
he is asking for a grand i might be able to get it down to 800/900

or should i buy a mint automatic and do a 5sp swap.
auto is 3g's ,but i really dont feel like swapping trannies cuz thats around 800 bucks if i do it myself and i want billy's and GC instead!

or.. should i just wait :(
    im getting anxious. :(

    Wait.

    There's no fixing that rust.

I'm in the middle of trying to piece together a 5 speed swap. I'm wishing I had just gotten a 5 speed in the first place.

You'll find another. I'd hold out. Especially if it's out of state.

I would try another car. the floor pan on that one will be rusted out. What is your budget?? I can get you a nice rust free one from the south and drive it up here for you. I have a 5-speed with everything you need for it at my house in MN if you want to come pick it up 400 bucks will get you everything.

I'd wait. It'd be a nice beater if it was all put together though.

I wouldn't take it, if he paid me to remove it. Hold out for one better. That car is way beyond anything you would want to get involved in.

If you buy a mint auto I will swap in the manual for you for $700. You will have to bring the car to my work so I can do it after hours in the heated shop. But you will be getting the transmission, wires, clutch, pedals, drive shaft, slave and hoses, for an extra $200 I will put in a 3.73 LSD while im under the car. The clutch on my parts car was very tight so you shouldnt need a new one, but if you so choose to get a new one let me know and I will put that in. BTW the manual I have has 158k.

wow that is an awesome deal.

i dont have enough to buy the auto right now let alone the swap ( i must sell the miata and that might not happen till spring, nobody wants to buy a vert in the winter)

but when i do i will DEFINIATLY give you a pm ... if you still have it (and if the mint car isnt sold :( )

an e30 is def. in my future.. i just either need to get the cash for it or wait to sell my car first.

Tell me about it. I do the work for the fun of it more than to make money... I have everything I want in my life(good family, good wife, and my e30s) so I dont really need to make money off it right now.

I will try to hang onto the transmission for you, or else I get parts car all the time so I will have several more by the time spring comes around.
