    Speedometer needle adjustment?

I've done searches on this and haven't found an answer. This problem started by being too cheap to pony up the $25 each for odometer gears. I bought a 12 tooth gear for an RC car to replace the E-1 gear that was broken into two pieces in my VDO speedo. It was only $3.50 with the correct gear pitch so it seemed like it was worth a try. Anyhow it was a snug fit onto the odometer drive shaft and I tried to tap it on but it wouldn't work. After that I noticed that the speedo needle was pointing down at approximately minus 10-15 mph and would only go up to 125-130 mph while turning the needle by hand. The speedo still works fine while driving but is off calibration.

Is there a way to adjust this or does it need to go to a shop? Big lesson in stupidity learned here.

    Thanks, Dan.

There's a dot on the face of the speedometer below the 0mph mark that is the normal rest position of the needle. If that's where the needle points all is as it should be. If below that something was probably damaged by your activities.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Unfortunately, I just replaced my odometer gears and I too am having the same issue with my speedometer. It is resting below that white dot and I can't figure out why.

Has anyone been able to fix this?
