    Thanks to all the Help!

:firehop: I would like to thank all the people who reply with technical advice and tips. A friend bought a 318ic. Since everybody thinks I know all about cars, I get to fix 'em (the cars). This car had an overheating problem, and being completely ignorant of BMW's, I knew nothing of the bleeder on top of the rad. The advice I got from searching posts, including the fan/paper trick, bleeding the air out, ... was of tremendous value. The cars problem was the fact that someone had recently changed the thermostat and failed to bleed the system (bleed the system no overheating).

In the meantime, working on this car, driving it... has given me the bimmer fever....now I have to have one....

    Two questions:

    1. Is it possible to replace the white fill bottle next to the radiator?

    2. Does anyone know how hard it is to replace the convertible top? Or have a place on the web that shows how to do it?

    Thanks again,
    Birdman

    Welcome to R3v!

I believe I have seen an instructional video on ebay which shows how to R&R the top.

And yes the reservoir bottle can be replaced with a new OEM bottle. If you need to find out about a part or part#, check out

As for your username, do you have a BBC or something?

Yes, I have a 69 firebird with a roller 454. I figured there was no way anyone would have that name on a bimmer forum. :pimp:

The other ones, I thought of, were already taken.

Thanks for the web site, I hadn't seen that one yet.
