Just had a nice long conversation with Koni NA

Turns out they are doing matched rate kits...but their springs are outsourced and the don't honor lifetime warranty claims on these. Yet again. I told them they look like they have a class action law suit there as the don't mention that the springs are not covered anywhere in their literature.

So FK and H&R are their source springs. If you feel like bitching at them 866-566-4165 or www.koni-na.com

      I just found this thread.

That is seriously wrong indeed. Why wouldn't they cover it? It doesn't seem like a huge risk for them. Maybe I'm missing the point here? Oh well...
      Reminiscing...

No back in the 80's they sold matched rate complete kits for a variety of differant cars. I had bought a kit for my VW well after 12 years the springs are tired and I wanted to replace them and the said that Koni never made nor sold springs in the US. So I snapped on them and said they were full of shit.

It turns out that all the said they cover is the shocks for a lifetime and never mentioned the spring part nor that they were outsourced.

I believe that they should say in their ads that the springs in their kits are not made nor warranteed in any respect by Koni. So I am just letting members know.. I like Koni shocks too but won't give them any props due to this.

In other words, you're not old enough to understand, huh Greg ;) ?!

              Haha...

You would think Koni and their spring supplier would put their heads together on this and come up with a better warranty setup. At very least, they should make it blatantly obvious which parts are not covered by their warranty.

BMW makes cars that have all kinds of outsourced parts in 'em (as does every other company) --- but their manufacturer's warranty covers those parts. There's no reason why Koni can't work something out.

No it's not because if a lawyer ran the company there wouldn't be any warranty on any aftermarket product not installed by a professional. And a shadetree mechanic never would be able to buy em.
