    yeah, something like that. I drilled mine out a couple of year ago. It sucked ass, basically, in summer. I am glad mine is fixed now!

      It's still controllable by the knob, you can still set it to "blue" and block off airflow through the heater core, BUT the reason that valve is in there, is with hot coolant flowing in the dash and around your legs from those metal tubes through the firewall, its gonna bring some heat into the cabin constantly. You will have a LOT of heat though when you crank the knob.

      I've seen that "fix" made permanent on a few cars where they just add a manual shutoff under the hood.

      For a temporary its-friggin-cold-out fix, knocking out the valve works well if you can get another one easily at the junkyard to replace it with
      . If this is not the case, Look at what that sucker costs before you do anything to it..... It's not cheap IIRC

            $120 isnt that bad, must have thought about something else. That or im still bitter over the price of a heater core.

              hmmm ill just wait for the next junkyard trip. springs almost here in dallas, so that means windows down. if i take the valve out, ill be replacing it. i guess at that time ill do the fuse too. thanks for all the help guys.
