you pull on the ears and try to face it down, then you pull it out of the dash from a side, don't try to pull the whole thing at once, just pull it from a side

Those german bastards!@ push the bottom behind the mounting corners and pull the top forward. uhg

edit: i tried that earlier but found it was too tall. you have to recess the bottom mounting for it to get low enough to clear.
