Heater / a/c housing and wiring

I tossed my old heater & a/c housing last year and got one from a newer car (I don't know what car it's originally from). Why, well not having a defroster was not a good idea, plus my rear defroster also doesn't work since the switch plugs into this mess. Wiring ended up being different, of course. There is a yellow sticker on the plastic box with "2/11/88/24", makes me think it's from an 1988 car, is that right ?

The main wiring plug is white and rectangular with a white tag on it with a "1386518.0 E 4224.7 90 928 18 899" printed .

The female end of this plug under my dash is not the same style / shape.

I am just trying to figure out if I can swap the wiring to the right one instead of splicing it...so I've been trying to find the right wiring set part number to do this swap... the defroster switch and the fan speed switch I got from a newer car so that's not a problem.

Does anybody know if pn 61121381797 (from 9/84) is the wiring set that goes on the heater and a/c housing and connects to the relays and all the junk on it , there must be different part numbers for different years though ?

When I select an early 318i it shows pn 61121381797 Up To 9/84.

The same exact part number comes up when I select an 88 car, pn # 61121381797 but says From 9/84.

Also, I do not remember having these connectors on my old housing that I tossed away.

    This?

    And this?

Is this some kind of temp. sensor ?

I'll paypal $10 to anybody who can find me a correct pn for the 84 e30 heater/blower/ac wiring harness. The plug on the end needs to be round and not rectangular.

well it's hard to tell, but it's listed as Air conditioning harness, and by there pic it looks sort of like the harness. That harness in your pic is a newer one, if your interested I've got an older style HVAC box sitting out in my parts car, I'd be willing to sell the harness off it if your interested(or at least grab the part # of it for you)

So I pulled the dash today thinking I'll get the heater/ac box installed and just swap the wiring harness since I have an early harness on hand..... WRONG

I was able to get most of the harness off the 88+ box, except for the last 4 wires going to fan resitor... I started removing all the clips around the box and screws as it looks like the box isn't all 1 piece. Then realized it's held in the middle with one time use metal rivets and almost looked like plastic welded in other areas. So, that means I couldn't get the last few wires out to swap the harness around.

I ended up cutting the wires on the 88+ box going to the fan resistor, they are "Brown, Black, Blue, Yellow, Green" a total of five wires. Now I need to look at the schematics and see if I can splice them into my harness to get this shit to work.

I started at 1:30, pulled the dash, started f-ing with the heater box, installed it, and the dash by 5:00 so it's not too bad. Of course I have to now to do one more time to wire it OR maybe I'll get a proper heater/box out of a 318i car that won't require all this extra work.... I still need to install a/c lines and all too.

So, in an nutshell don't through your old heater/a/c away.......
