    Odd Trunk Lock Problem.

I've been using my keyless entry that is wired up to my trunk for about 2 years straight now.

Last night I swapped out for a new head unit (kenwood to kenwood, same harness used, nothing rewired, everything matches). My roommates and I went out and got some food and when I came back to my car, I couldn't unlock it using my keyless entry. I thought that was odd so I put my key in the trunk and tried ot manually unlock it that way. The car wouldn't unlock at first, and then it finally did after locking and unlocking a couple of times.

Fast forward to when I get home and start playing with it. The trunk will lock all the doors now, but will not unlock them anymore, my driver/passenger locks all still work and will lock all doors/trunk and unlock all doors/trunk. It seems like JUST the ability to unlock my doors from the trunk has ceased to function. This is pretty annoying because my tumblers on my side doors are starting to go and I don't want to get stuck with my car locked when i'm out and about.

Any ideas? Ways to troubleshoot this?

Central locking computer could be acting up. My keyless randomly stopped working in the same manner as well, and I've just started troubleshooting it and so far I've narrowed it down to the locking computer.

So it's on the car then.
Wasn't there a way to reset our keyless relays?

Let me know what you find I guess, It feels like a mechanical issue as any turn to the left has almost no resistance to it. But hopefully its something as simple as swapping out the computer. Thats behind the speaker on the driver side panel, right?

Yep. Panel off, speaker out, unscrew and pull out the module and bracket it sits on.

However, if the central locking works from the door, then its probably not the central locking module. I'd start checking out the trunk's lock actuator and the link from the lock to the actuator. If you don't feel the normal resistance when you turn the key, something might have come out of alignment.

In that case check the switches and verify everything is connected and working properly.

If not, call me and I will score you the parts to fix it.

Well now it won't lock shit either. Gotta use the side doors exclusively. Sweet. Fucking random. I'll take it apart this weekend and see if I can figure something out.

                    Semi-update.

The locking mechanism ITSELF is fine. The key will unlock the trunk, and lock the trunk. It just won't trip the rest of the locks.

if I use central locking on my passenger or driver doors, it will also lock and unlock the trunk.

So.. somehow central locking is locking/unlocking the trunk, yet the ability to access central locking from the trunk itself is broken.

                    Any ideas?

Simple. Replace that trunk actuator. The position sensor in it has failed.

                        Closing SOON!
