    Clutch problems

I was driving to work and everything was perfect, then I cant shift gears, and then my engine starts idling at 1500rpms.

Clutch pedal is extremely firm and I cant disengage the clutch to shift gears, and when fully pressed to the floor it starts to release while making a whirling noise like the I am burning the clutch.

The clutch has been doing this sporadically ever since I got in my wreck, but now its kicked the can. I was thinking the pivot pin may have popped loose but I dont know exactly where thats at and if that would be the issue.

I have plenty of brake fluid, and I am going to get under the car and pull the slave cylinder out and check my tranny fluid but even with the car off the clutch wont release so I can put it in gear.

    Slave has 2k on it

Everything else is assumed to be Original with 200k+ miles

It could be, since there's no history of a clutch replacement, that the clutch has simply work out.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Okay I can shift 3-4-5 easily with the car off, and R-1-2 require a bit more force even with the car off, but with the car on I cannot shift gears, Pushing the clutch all the way to the floor doesnt do anything and if I press real hard when its on the floor with the car on it seems like it want to engage but makes a grinding sound like its toasting the clutch, and thats not trying to get it in gear but simply pressing it all the way to the floor and then squeezing an extra few millimeters out of the clutch travel.

Gonna go out on a limb and say throwout bearing. And/or clutch itself. Whens the last time you changed it? It would be very wise to order a new clutch/pressure plate, a throwout and pilot bearing, and a new pivot fork pin. Might be in for a fun weekend!

Oh its going to be a fun week. I know the clutch hasnt been changed in at least 6 years, and I dont think that it would be a stretch to say that it has over 100k miles on it. I need to get a timing belt kit ordered since it has not been replaced in 5+ years.

Hell I might as well consider doing the headgasket so I can get my metric blues installed along with my "i" bits.

Oh what a fun week this is going to be.

i had a spring break on the pressure plate and had this same issue. The clutch was less than a year old too.
