    My car weight.. amazing

Well I decided to weigh the project car today.. i'm pretty impressed (i've just copied and pasted this post of my home forum so ignore the locations and stuff - wanted to see how this stacked up to some american cars.

    The weight was taken with:

A full tank of gas approx 50 kg of fuel

and my car runs.. 2 very light Jamex seats.. no rear seats.. no sound deadning under back seats and no sound deadning in boot and WITH the spare wheel.

A grand total of 1070 kg 2354 lbs done at the north shore city dump.

    Not bad aye..

btw the car is a 2 door 1984 323i manul coupe.. it now has:

A motronic fully rebuilt 325 motor with pre-motronic 323 head
Lightened crank, flywheel, con rods + all fully balanced
323 head rebuilt (slightly smaller ports so more torque) that had the combustion chamber machine to stop the pistons hitting the head - resulting in a pretty high compression ratio.

Jamex 40mm prog springs wth Bilstein sport shocks + full urethane bushes
    Custom 2.25 inch exhaust

Tommorow on the dyno we'll try for 100 rwkW and 240 rwNm torque but i'm not that hopeful .. i'm running RON 96 and its noticeable how motronic caps the performance to reduce knock.. i'll dyno it with 98 also next week.

I bought the car with the motor swap but the first day I got it, it dropped an exhaust valve completely destroying the head and piston #6.. so I went all out and did the full rebuilt - it is very hard to find the 2.7 crank in NZ so I couldn't go down that route.

Gasoline weighs 6.02 lbs per gallon so small tank would weigh 37.5 KG.

    1070Kg = 2359.35 lbs nice and light.

Wow, my 318i was 2360lbs with full interior/spare/1/8th tank of gas. Impressive numbers.

What do you mean Motronic caps performance to reduce knock? No M20 ever had knock sensors, Motronic shouldn't change anything if your engine is detonating.

I was under the impression it could retard the timing.. i'm sure it retards the timing when your cruising at like 60kph in 4th gear - my L-Jet car starts pinking like a bitch. Any how - can't wait to ditch the motronic in favour of Link engine management early next year - turbo time.

it probably does pull the timing a bit under cruise conditions, but because it switches to another ignition map because one of the variables that the ECU sees told it it was cruising..but one of those variables isnt a knock sensor...Moronic is stupid!
