If you want to do a real test of what you have, try this:

Remove the left front speaker cover. Find the bundle of wires going to the central locking relay. Strip back a tiny section of the lock and unlock wires. The colors are:

    (L) Yellow/blue
    (UL) Green/blue

Now, you need to fool the drivers door into thinking it is closed, so grab a screwdriver and close the latch by latching the latch. You should be able to push the door lock down easily now, as if the door were closed.

OK, grab a small chunk of wire, like a couple of feet. Wrap one end around either the lock or unlock, and quickly tap the other end against ground. The door lock system should either lock or unlock, depending on which wire you chose.

What you are doing here is basically duplicating the action of either the switches or sensors in the door locks. When you lock one door, it sends a signal to the CLS, which does its thing adn locks the rest of the car.

There is a large multi pin connector on the drivers door jamb that is prone to corrosion and dirt buildup. I had odd random issues with my power door locks that I eventually traced to this connector. Once I cleaned it, all my power door lock issues went away.

We need a dedicated forum just for central locking. That shit on my car pisses me off. I've owned some old cars before, but none have had door lock, handle, lock cylinder problems like this finely crafted e30.

My 68 Barracuda, 73 Cuda, and two 73 Dusters all had laughable quality control on their build, but none of them ever had a single problem with their simple manual locks! Grrrr.
