    aux fan problem

I've searched but came up with nothing conclusive.

My aux fan doesnt come on at all between 1/2 and 3/4 temp.

    1) When I touch the low speed lead to ground on the fan, it comes on.

    2) When temps are btw 1/2 to 3/4, I cant get low speed or high speed to come on.

    3) When temps are above 3/4, I can get both low and high speed to come on.

    So is it:

    1) my radiator temp switch took a dump (which would be perfect since I was going to put the 80/88 one in anyway)

    2) the infamous hard-to-get-to resistor

    3) the low-speed relay

    TIA

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Having both low and full speed operation of the fan via jumper says that the resistor is okay. With that out of consideration, both the temp switch and relay are likely candidates. A bit of work with a test light should tell which.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
