10-15 cranks to start cold engine

My car had been taking 10-15 cranks to start up when it was cold. So I bought a new (used) CSV from Ely.
The car started up great this morning after about 3-4 turns.
I went to start it up on my lunch-hour and it took about 5-10 to start up (80+ degrees outside).
And 4 hours later when I went to start it up to go home it took about 10-15 again.

    Any thoughts?

Does it still sound like the CSV? (The one I got from Ely could be bad, I guess.)

Is the M10 FPR different from the M20 one?

It's the same as the 325i one, which I happen to have two of in the attic. Something is up as my 85 318i starts in like 3 starts every time. If the CSV is bad let me know and I'll send you another. Have you pulled it out to see if it's spraying?

Got a Bentley? Test the CSV.

Basically, unplug the connector at the firewall, aim the CSV into a cup (make sure the engine is cold) and have a friend crank the engine. Easy peasy.

I might have a spare FPR too.

Bill, which connector should I unplug? The one on the CSV? Will it still spray then?

Haha, how in the hell would you expect that to work?

The connector at the firewall that is covered by the rubber protective thing. Pretty sure that's what it was anyway...that was a long time ago that I tested mine.

You'd want to just disconnect the spark correct? Should be the only thing you need to disconnect.

Yeah, I just need to pull the main relay. No biggie. My damn engine is still hot though... I'll probably try it in the morning.

OK, I just tested both of the CSVs and there was absolutely NO fuel coming out of them.

                          Any thoughts?

It only works when demand cycle is activated correct? Let me review Bentley for 318i 's

Pg. 6-24 is where it's at. I'm starting to think that it might be the thermo-time switch.

When I tested the CSVs, the engine had not been started in 4 days (cold).

**Would pulling the Main Relay cause no power to get to the thermo-time switch?**
