Rear shock mount parts and procedu??

'87 325is w 300k+; rubber in rear shock mount has failed. REALOEM shows rubber as a separate part. Is the part available (#9 on the parts explosion) and can it be replaced from inside the trunk?

Yes, you're right, shocks should be replaced and will be later.

Easy to replace two nuts to remove from inside the trunk.

I recommend going with the cab mounts. They're heavier duty, and will last longer.

Gene, I think you might find more info if you search around.

If you are wanting to stay with a stock type ride, Meyle makes an improved rear shock mount with a tapered core that should last longer than the stock ones. As noted above, the e46 Cabrio rear shock mounts are another OE style upgrade.

If you go with one of these - make sure you get everything installed correctly. I know there is a thread around here that goes over that.

Another option are the "repair shop" mounts that Bimmerworld sells.

If you want something stiffer, look at the urethane mounts from Bimmerworld or Ireland Engineering.
