    Ground Controls

Im installing teh fronts tommorow, as my shocks arrived today. The rear is already installed it was a pieceo f cake, but he front will be a bit of a biatch. Now the one thing i want to know is do i have to weld the Perch, or ppl do it, only so they could go lower? I got new Strut Mounts, Tie Rods, Sway Bar Links, Bushings, and Rack/Pinions Boots, so all one shot. How hard/Easy is to adjust the height of the car?

Any pics of G/C installation will be appriciated

    Sup Andre,
We just did GC on my friend's car yesterday, when we looked at it, the cup piece needs to be cut and perches welded in order to have better access to adjust it, and to fit even wider wheels..

If you don't cut off the existing perch, you won't be able to go too much lower than full high on the GC perches. Cutting off the perches and having the GC perch welded on shouldn't cost more than $50ish, but make sure the welder doesn't use too much heat, or else the metal inside of the strut housing will warp and you won't be able to slide the insert back in (which you must take out before welding).

What are you doing for shocks? I trust you aren't shortening the housings, since you're not sure what you're doing.

If your going to get coilovers install them so that you can use their full adjustability otherwise its just a waste of time and money.

        Sold it.

well a lesser known benefit of coilovers is corner balancing. People assume that the whole reason to get C/Os is to make the car "dumped y0!" but oh well. Anyway, corner balancing shouldn't require the cut perches or whatever.

be sure you drain all the oil inside the strut assembly before installing the bilsteins.

Huh? Sit it on the weld from the old perch that you just removed and weld it there.

Andre wants it so he can go lower than normal.

Now my question, GC's don't come with helper springs? They keep the normal spring located when the car is in the air like your photo shows Bill. It needs one. Is this an option with them?

I don't have any helper springs - and GC doesn't include them as standard or an option for the kit.

Sure, I mean I guess Andre can weld it on in a lower spot, but it would be completely pointless. Unless maybe he takes his shocks out and likes banging two pieces of metal together very hard..

Don't be surprised if your car doesn't go too much lower than it already is - judging from pics it's damn low already.

There are more expensive ways of getting your GC setup to go ridiculously low, but it's a completely different process.
