To those wth the sparco strut bar.....???

Fortunately, the bar lined without a problem and was easy to put on. However, what did you guys do about the throttle body cable? The bar pushes it down, in result, when I am stopped at a light the car idles at 1000 rpm. I would like to hear about what you guys did..........

My bad man, I forgot to come back, and loose the nut on the cable, when I checked, it was really tight, and it was causing the butterfly to open up a little and idling little bit high.

Go outside, look on Cruise Control cable, its tight, at the end of it, it has little nut, loose it up little bit, until you hear click noise coming from t/b sensor, when you do, leave it like that, if car is still idling high, loosen it up little bit more.

i put the throttle cable over the bar, and the cruise control under. when i first started the car it idled at 900rpm, but once i started driving the idle stayed at a solid 750, and remained that way ever since

Im pretty sure you should have, and forget about C/C just ditch that thing..

I simply bent the bracket. Be careful bcos the plastic is brittle and now that its getting colder its even more easier to break something. I still have my CC connected. I broke my clip for the CC the first time but had a spare cable.

Arik nice shots but please put a spacer under your throttle cable to prevent rubbing. Believe it or not it won't take long for a braided cable to wear through a steel item. Ask me how I know.

useless? I use it to maintain constant speed on my highway hauls... if you drive long journeys often you appreciate it...at least I do. I cannot count how many times I've had my leg on the gas and gradually crept up in speed...then again its probably a personal issue just as many others...

Oh man, I agree. For long trips, I can't stand not having my cruise (still haven't bothered trying to fix it since it stopped working after the converstion).

I like my cruise too. I wish I had it for my euro car as it would make the long trips to Stuggart easy. My car at Rhein-Mein AB in Frankfurt has it but I hardly ever get to drive that car. I think the rotor are frozen with oxidation too. Bad Greg for neglecting a car. But it's just a Eta, just kidding. It will be retired soon anyway. Don't need it anymore after I got the 325iT

Greg, what do you mean? I am kind of confused here... :? I see the throttle cable rubbing on the bar, but how would the spacer work and where would it go......BTW I broke one of my strut mount studs while i realigned my bar :curse:

Arik, I was talking about putting a spacer under the throttle body cable housing bracket to lift the height up jus slightly. But make sure it doesn't contact the hood. I appears that it needs to come up about 6mm or so to prevent the rubbing. Yea it's a guess on the height but you could just use washers to lift the bracket.

George...I broke mine too....you over-torqued it ..you can replace it even without dropping the mount. I got mine from the dealer..very cheap item... you need the pin and the self locking nut.

Greg was referring to using a spacer to prevent the crusie cable from rubbing on the bar thus wearing its way into the bar with time..

BTW the torque specs are like 16 or 18ft/lbs..look in the Bentley
