    Wiring trick with a writeup!

I was planning to run my turn signals so that they only lit up when I was actually signaling.

I removed the small plug on the right side for it, and it worked fine. Signals, but is off otherwise.

Went to the driver side, and looked for the plug. Unplugged something accidentaly, and now the low beams don't work at all! I replaced the fuses, and that didn't help. What should I do? Wiring problems are the hardest to figure. Also, the plug I removed from the right side was not even there on the left!

    Help!

Haha well oddly enough, it suddenly fixed itself somehow this morning when I tried and prayed it would. Problem solved!

As for how to, on the passenger side, reach behind the indicator, you should find a hole with three wires coming from it. They are all separate plugs to the light in the indicator. The grey-on-white wire is the one to pull, but make sure you remove it just slightly, because its a bitch to put back in since your space is limited.

Unless you remove the bumper. I can't since my M-Tech II gets in the way...as for the drivers side, I'm a bit stumped seeing how there are no wires that lead to the indicator.

I'm just trying to go for the old single round look (at least at night) like Golf MKII's. I'll post here if I figure it out. Of course, it may be different on your car. Just make sure you don't unplug anything without the car off. ;)

Thar a good idea Dan, and easy for me considering I had to make my own connectors for my turn signals since i didnt have connectors with it. I might give it a shot, it would look pretty cool. My friend with his mk3 jetta switched to clear turn signal lenses and kept his clear bulbs which is kinda neat too. He hasnt got pulled over yet despite pesky hagerstown cops..

Noooo I'm the only one who can do this! Oh well, so much for being original. In a stupidly small sense at least.

Now I just gotta figure how to make the driver side turn off!

So I understand on how to get the passenger side, but how do you get the driver's side?

As stated above, it seems that the drivers side is different from the passenger side, so I gotta do some trial and error to figure it out.

Well, it is a 2 element bulb, correct? You could just do the old school method of taping off or otherwise blocking power from reaching the smaller element's prong.

Yea I suppose, although I'm not entirely getting you on that one. I will however see through trial and error this weekend, unless someone here does it quicker and posts back.

                    Isn't that sick looking!?

Okay, the bulb has 2 bumps on the back of it, 1 for the dimmer light, 1 for the brighter light. Just tape off the one that goes to the dimmer light and you're set.

Ah I see. Not from behind the valance, but rather block it off from the front, behind the actual indicator where you plug in the bulb. I'll do that now...

I actually meant on the bulb itself, but on the connector would do the same shit.
